ASTM certified playground surface made from natural wood fiber. This light-colored, shredded hardwood is imported from sawmills and is specially designed for use in play areas or walking paths. As a non-composted material, Playground Mulch is not recommended for planting beds or as a decorative mulch. This product is certified for use in state and city jobs and ASTM certificate is available upon request.

Quick Facts and Tips about our Mulch:

Color enhanced mulches need about 24 hours of dry weather for the color to set.To avoid color runoff we DO NOT recommend laying a color enhanced mulch if rain is forecasted within 24 hours.

Young plants and annuals can be sensitive to many conditions after planting including soil amendments, fertilizer and mulch application. We recommend a lighter mulch application and avoiding contact with surrounding plants. Always water after application.

For good moisture retention and weed control, apply mulch 2” thick. We do not recommend applying mulch more than 2-3” thick.

The colorant we use in our color-enhanced mulches is safe for plant and pets.

Concrete staining is expected from color-enhanced mulch if material is placed directly on concrete. Though cleaning with a brush and soap and water can be effective in removal of any stains, we recommend avoiding concrete staining altogether by placing the material on a tarp at the time of delivery.
Dimensions/coverage of bulk mulch:
-
A cubic yard is equal to 27 cubic feet.

One cubic yard is equal to 14 two cubic foot bags, or 9 of the three cubic foot bags.

A pickup truck with an 8’ foot bed can hold 2 yds of mulch. A six foot bed pickup will hold one.

One cubic yard of mulch will cover 162 square feet at a 2” depth.

At 3” one cubic yard will cover 108 square feet
-
Weights of our mulches vary by type and moisture content, however, you can estimate a yard of mulch will weigh between 700-1,000 pounds.
* All color-enhanced mulches need about 24 hours for the color to “cure” into the wood once the mulch is spread. We do not recommend spreading color-enhanced mulch when heavy rain is predicted within 24 hours.
