How does Kurtz Recycle?
Many have discovered the "green" connection Kurtz offers - Do you know about Kurtz and the role we play in sustaining our environment? Not coincidentally, our tagline just happens to be: "we make the good earth better!" Starting out as a topsoil provider to farmers wishing to improve their soil, for years Kurtz has been providing the landscape industry with environmentally friendly, quality product. Kurtz is still focused on improving our earth over 60 year later. Whether it is by manufacturing mulch from wood scraps or by diverting spent foundry sand from the landfill, today Kurtz continues to make strides to promote environmental sustainability.
OUR POWERHOUSE. For example, at our Material Reclamation Facility in Brooklyn Heights, Ohio we divert ~1200 ton of construction and demolition daily from going into the landfill. Construction and demolition debris is sorted with our unique-to-the-area facility. Although they may say they do, NOBODY AROUND DOES WHAT WE DO, nor has the equipment that we do. Since 2006, we have invested over 2 million dollars and have worked with the Ohio Department of Natural Resources (ODNR) to obtain addtional funding for this top-of-the-line facility. Wood, aggregates and metals are sorted and resold. Bricks formerly used as roads or in buildings or houses are crushed, sized, sorted and bagged for re-use. Brick Chips may be used as a beautiful mulch to highlight plantings in landscaped areas. Have poor soil? Technagro is a wonderful soil amendment, and will increase water-holding capacity, add nutrients and help plants grow stronger. EarthPro Brick Chips may be used on walking paths, baseball field warning tracks, rooftops and more!
