Success Stories
Environmentally
Friendly, Economically Sound
There’s no debate
about the fact that our natural resources are a precious commodity.
So when innovation and technology can be combined to preserve them,
it’s a benefit to everyone. Kurtz Bros., Inc. specializes
in developing leading edge technologies for the beneficial reuse
of materials that might otherwise end up in already bulging land-fills.
The value of this important work cannot be understated as Americans
generate over 210 million tons of trash per year. Working closely
with Ohio State University and the Ohio Environmental Protection
Agency, Kurtz Bros., Inc. produces a variety of products
used in the landscape and construction industries.
Providing recycling solutions to large corporations and municipalities
Kurtz Bros., Inc has helped Ford Motor Company, the City
of Cleveland, the City of Columbus, International Steel Group, the
City of Akron, and others reduce their impact on the environment
in a safe, economical way.
In a recent success story Kurtz Bros., Inc. supplied specially engineered
topsoil for the roadside improvement associated with the
widening of Som Center Road. Seeded in the heat of summer
and without irrigation, noticeable turf grass establishment could
be seen within just ten days.
As illustrated, high rates of germination and rapid establishment
of turf grass have been achieved using Landscaper’s Blend
Top soil from Kurtz Bros.
In addition to Landscaper’s Blend Topsoil, Kurtz Bros., Inc.
produces EarthPro™ topsoils, mulches and compost, several
popular sizes of aggregate from recycled concrete and brick and
more.
Currently, Kurtz Bros., Inc. is developing environmentally beneficial
solutions for local and national Green Building Coalitions
and the Ohio Department of Natural Resources. Building
positive working relationships with these organizations, their engineers,
and the contractors completing projects, Kurtz Bros., Inc. hopes
to find economic alternatives to building and road construction
methods that will benefit the public and the environment.
